Why doesn’t your trailer match the quality of your boat? This is one of the main questions posed by Dutch trailer manufacturer, Vanclaes, as the company prepare to launch the new Excelleron Wave, full stainless-steel trailer range, at a number of boat shows, including Boat Life 2022.
Vanclaes, MD, Stian Duijvelaar, says: “With the recent surge of interest in towable boats, and boats with outboards, such as RIB’s, sportsboats, and family cruisers, there’s been very little choice or variety in the quality end of the trailer market, up until now. “UK owners spending anywhere from between a few thousand, to several hundred thousand pounds on a new or used boat, have had few options when it comes to trailers, apart from somewhat drab-looking, galvanised steel trailers – often with very basic standard spec – to tow their latest pride & joy. “We want to offer premium quality to more people, and it’s our belief that many owners want a trailer with a superior build quality, with a more ‘prestigious’ look and feel that only full stainless-steel can offer. Something that is a better match for the quality of their boat & car. With added features and benefit as standard, and the kind of long-term reliability, durability, and peace of mind that a Vanclaes offers.”
The Excelleron Wave explained: Based upon a stainless-steel chassis, the Excelleron Wave range is ideally suited to V-hull designs, although, due to the modularity of design and construction, an Excelleron Wave can be made to fit any and all types of boat hulls, with max displacement up to +/- 2800kg. Available from small, un-braked, single axle trailers, to the most popular-selling, mid-range, 7.5m long braked, double-axle trailers, all the way to the largest, triple-axle, braked trailers capable of towing up to the maximum European permissible trailer length of 12m.
Excelleron Wave Standard Feature Highlights:
- Full stainless-steel chassis / non-corrodible, ultra-light, strong as steel, fully adjustable, modular construction, with great looks and long-term durability
- Single, double or triple axle trailers depending upon need.
- Shock-absorbers on each braked axle
- Adjustable stainless-steel winch post
- Self-braking winch with strap
- Retractable jockey wheel
- 100% waterproof LED Lighting / remains fixed to the trailer during launch & recovery, so no more separate lightbar to worry about
- Waterproof bearings mounted inside sealed hubs
- Self-Centering rollers that are scuff and scratchproof
- European Type approval, for use on UK and all European roads
Pricewise, there is a big misconception in the market that a Vanclaes s/s trailer costs much more than the rest of the field. The reality is, in most cases, a Vanclaes costs marginally more than others, but with a lot more features & benefits and a superior level of customer care, support and attention to detail that more than justifies the final price.
“In our view, Vanclaes is in a class of its own and quite probably the only boat trailer you’ll come across that has the ability to turn heads when rolling into view.” Powerboat & RIB, March-April 2021
With a history of high-quality steel production in Alphen a/d Rijn, in the mid-west of The Netherlands, where every Vanclaes trailer is handmade, the overall engineering and build-quality is like nothing UK boating customers have seen before now.
Vanclaes product support, including initial trailer set-up, spare-parts supply and the entire ‘customer-experience’ is on a level far superior than other manufacturers are willing, or able to offer.
Local UK representation has been in place for several years now, and (for a fixed delivery price), the process of importation, Brexit paperwork and final delivery to a customer is part of the service.
The head-office and factory are located 20km from Schiphol Airport and, (subject to an appointment), customers can visit the Vanclaes ‘Experience Centre’ and take a tour around the dedicated showroom and see how a Vanclaes trailer is actually made.
A useful Product Configurator on the website helps configure and cost-up each trailer before ordering, and customers can pay in Euros or GB Pounds.
Our unique ‘Gyro Roller System’ optional upgrade moderates the angle of the craft when being winched on and off, with wheels that will not get stuck in launching or recovering single or twin-step hulls.
Vanclaes is in the process of expanding its UK Business Partner network and welcomes enquiries from the relevant marine trade.
